Survey to end Travancore Devaswom Board, Forest tiff on Sabarimala

According to TDB, the government has allotted 63 acres to it as per records and another 6.5 acres on the basis of permissive sanction.

KOTTAYAM:  The survey to  demarcate  the boundaries of the land owned by the Travancore Devaswom Board and the forest department at Sabarimala is scheduled to begin on February 19.  The survey ordered by the     High Court will be conducted by the officials of revenue, TDB and the forest departments at  Pamba, Nilakkal and a few other places.

"There is a dispute between the TDB and the forest department  beca-use  the boundaries of the lands owned by them were not properly demarcated,"  A.S.P. Kurup, advocate- commissioner in charge of the survey,  told DC. The details will be sent to the HC, he said.

According to the TDB,  the government has allotted 63 acres  to  it as  per records and another 6.5 acres on the basis of permissive sanction. TDB president A. Padmakum-ar told DC, “there should be clarity as well as an order regarding the  boundaries of  the lands.”  Forest department sources said that they had   no doubts about the boundaries. However, since the High Court had  ordered  the survey,  they will cooperate with it, they said.
