Survey to end Travancore Devaswom Board, Forest tiff on Sabarimala
According to TDB, the government has allotted 63 acres to it as per records and another 6.5 acres on the basis of permissive sanction.
KOTTAYAM: The survey to demarcate the boundaries of the land owned by the Travancore Devaswom Board and the forest department at Sabarimala is scheduled to begin on February 19. The survey ordered by the High Court will be conducted by the officials of revenue, TDB and the forest departments at Pamba, Nilakkal and a few other places.
"There is a dispute between the TDB and the forest department beca-use the boundaries of the lands owned by them were not properly demarcated," A.S.P. Kurup, advocate- commissioner in charge of the survey, told DC. The details will be sent to the HC, he said.
According to the TDB, the government has allotted 63 acres to it as per records and another 6.5 acres on the basis of permissive sanction. TDB president A. Padmakum-ar told DC, “there should be clarity as well as an order regarding the boundaries of the lands.” Forest department sources said that they had no doubts about the boundaries. However, since the High Court had ordered the survey, they will cooperate with it, they said.
