Krishnagiri: Spectators were shocked after two bulls dropped to the ground and one died after a head-to-head collision in a bull taming event in this district. The bizarre episode took place in Uthanapalli police limits of Krishnagiri.

On Monday, local people in Uthanapalli near Hosur of Krishnagiri arranged a bull taming event.

Over 200 bulls from across the district took part in the event. At around 12.30 pm, a bull owned by N. Basavaraj of Chakraloo village near Shoolagiri of Krishnagiri died on the spot when the youths tried to tame the animal.

According to eye-witnesses, the scared animal first ploughed through the crowd and then collided head-on with another bull coming in the opposite direction. Both animals dropped to the ground and the bull belonging to Basavaraj died on the spot. Following this, Krishnagiri collector S. Prabhakar warned of strict action against people who violate the norms prescribed for the safe conduct of 'jallikattu' (bull-taming) events in Krishnagiri district. He said that villages found violating the norms will be permanently banned from conducting the event in the coming years and a criminal case will be slapped against its organisers.
