Rajahmundry: Advocates boycott courts in protest
Mr Ravi Krishna said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made poll promises for advocates before general elections 2014.
Rajahmundry: Lawyers on Tuesday abstained from court work in protest demanding the Centre fulfil its assurances given to them to ensure their welfare.
Following a nation-wide call given by the Bar Council of India, several senior and junior lawyers formed human chain on the road leading to the district court complex and expressed concern over the inordinate delay on the part of the Centre to come to their rescue by fulfilling the assurances. The lawyers led by Rajahmundry Bar Association secretary G. Srinivasulu Reddy reiterated their demand to the Centre to fulfil its several promises and abstained from court work.
Meanwhile in Kakinada also, advocates the bar association on Tuesday took out a procession and staged dharna in front of the Collectorate demanding the Central governments sort out their problems.
The lawyers, led by the association president Kotikalapudi Satya Srinivasa Rao and the AP Bar Council member Naraharisetty Ravi-krishna, took out procession from Balajicheruvu Center to Collectorate through MRO Office and Zilla Parishad Center wearing black badges. They raised slogans asking the government to take speedy steps to solve the problems faced by advocates.
Among their demand, the advocates sought the allocation of Rs.5,000 crore for Bar Associations, providing Rs.10,000 stipend per month for five years for Junior Advocates, sanctioning of house sites to Advocates, increasing the Judge posts and filling up the Judge posts, providing infrastructure facilities in courts for the convenience of litigants and others. They said that the Acts which discourage the judiciary system by intervening government role should be amended. Mr Ravi Krishna said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made poll promises for advocates before general elections 2014. He demanded that Mr Modi should fulfill his promises.
They sent representations to the District Collector, Kakinada Third Additional District Judge, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kakinada Parliament Members, seeking sorting out their problems.
