Former president Hussain was alumni of 150 year old school in Hyderabad
Members of the teachers union stated that they had heard of the former President's connection with the school from their seniors.
Hyderabad: India’s third President Dr Zakir Hussain did his primary education at the Sultan Bazaar school, before his family shifted to what was then United Province, according to a teacher who worked at the school for two decades.
Members of the teachers union stated that they had heard of the former President’s connection with the school from their seniors. There is no record to confirm the claim. A majority of historians was unaware of where Dr Hussain did his schooling.
Historian M.A. Qayyum said Dr Hussain was born in Begum Bazaar in 1897 and the family stayed in the city till he was eight.
Among those who studied at the school include former Chief Minister T. Anjaiah, former ministers Prabhakar Reddy, Mukesh Goud, Dr K. Kesava Rao, P.V. Ranga Rao (son of former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao). OU professors and judges also passed out of the school.

School alumnus and Rajya Sabha MP K. Kesava Rao has come forward to do his bit so that the Government Boys High School, Sultan Bazaar, gets a facelift. He studied from Class 7 to 10 at the school.
“I will get funds from my MP quota or from government. I visited this school when I was education minister in the early 1980s and took steps to improve its facilities,” he said. He said the Sultan Bazaar school was known for its discipline and quality education.
