Chennai: Around 10 lakh students to appear for class 10 exam

Chennai: Around 10 lakh students from the state to write class 10 board exams scheduled to start from Thursday across the state.
The first four exams will be conducted in the afternoon. “The Tamil and English exams will be conducted from 2 pm to 4.45 pm and remaining exams will be conducted in the usual timings from 10 to 12.45 pm,” DGE said in a release on Tuesday.
This year 9,59,618 students would write the exams from 12,546 schools. Among them 4,76,318 are girls and 4,83,300 are girls. Unlike the higher secondary classes, 6,982 more boys would write the board exams this year.
Apart from regular candidates, 38,176 of them are appearing as private candidates. The DGE has set up 3,731 exam centres.
Among the candidates, 152 prisoners also registered to write exams from exam centres in Puzhal, Tiruchi, Palayamkottai and Coimbatore.
“Around 49,000 teachers will be involved exam related works. We have set up flying squads and standing squads consisting of 5,500 teachers and education officials,” DGE said.
From Chennai, 50,678 students would appear from 567 schools and 8,356 students from Puducherry also appear for exams.
