27 under quarantine in Mysuru and Kodagu

Both districts share border with Kerala, the most affected state in the coronavirus outbreak

Mysuru: As many as 22 people from Mysuru and five people from Kodagu who had travelled to Corona hit countries are being identified and being quarantined.

With 12 confirmed coronavirus cases reported in Kerala, bordering districts Kodagu, and especially Mysuru which receives large number of tourists from other states and foreign countries are on high alert.

Among 22 people from Mysuru who travelled from coronavirus hit countries, two had come from Wuhan in China itself. Among them seven people have completed quarantine period.

Among five persons from Kodagu who had travelled to coronavirus hit countries, two had travelled from China. Three people have already completed quarantine period and one person from Iran, and one more person from Dubai who returned on Thursday, are still in isolation.

Six people from Mandya who had travelled to Covid-19 hit countries are being identified, and among them three people have completed quarantine period.

Test results for all of them have arrived negative. However, the result of one Kodagu resident who came back from Dubai is still awaited according to state health department officers.

Mysuru district commissioner Mr Abhiram G Shankar held meeting of all officials related to Covid-19 on Friday. He directed authorities of Mysuru Palace board to check currencies of foreign tourists with thermalic liquid.

Authorities of Mysuru airport too have begun thermal screening of passengers arriving from other places.
