Declare V K Sasikala's position void, Sasikala Pushpa tells EC
A Special Observer who should be a retired SC Judge should be appointed to conduct the party elections.
CHENNAI: Rebel AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa has asked the Election Commission to declare “null and void” V. K. Sasikala’s appointment as general secretary and appoint a retired Supreme Court judge to conduct elections in the party. In a memorandum submitted to ECI, Ms Sasikala Pushpa said a Special Observer who should be a retired SC Judge should be appointed to conduct the party elections and the District Observers to supervise the overall election district wise, who must be not less than the level of Sessions Court retired Judges.
“I request the ECI to consider my earlier complaints and my contention against Mrs Sasikala and declare her position in the party null and void and order for conduct of fair and transparent election for the post of Party Gen. Secretary,” Ms Sasikala said in the memorandum. On cancellation of R K Nagar by polls, she said the ECI must use its vested powers within the constitution and refer the cash seizure, misuse of money power by the ruling AIADMK State minister C Vijayabhaskar and others who has operated under the guidance of the candidate T.T.V. Dhinakaran to the enquiry of CBI and ED as the cash transactions show suspicious involvement of many politicians.
“The money power misused on the account of R.K.Nagar byelection was done only to favour TTV Dinakaran’s victory by compromising all the illegal means to allure voters. Hence the ECI shall consider these violations in a very serious manner and declare him as a default person to contest any election for a stipulated period under the provisions of the Representation of the People act,” she said.
