M K Surappa assumes charge as VC

Chennai: IIT Ropar former director professor M.K. Surappa assumed charge as the new vice-chancellor of Anna University on Thursday.
He was appointed as the vice-chancellor of Anna University on April 5.
University’s faculty members, professors greeted the new vice-chancellor at his chamber.
While speaking at the gathering of Anna University’s staff members in the evening, he urged the young faculty members to focus on innovative research.
After assuming charge, he garlanded the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai and Tiruvalluvar.
Some political leaders had opposed his appointment citing that he hailed from Karnataka.
