Ooty: The Special Task Force (STF) and foresters have intensified combing operations in the jungle border along Nilgiris and Kerala as there is said to be some suspected Maoist movement there.

As the western part of Nilgiris bordering Kerala has long back been
identified as a Maoist sensitive area, police and foresters from both states have been keeping a strict vigil.

Amid unconfirmed reports about suspected Maoist movement on the Kundah-Gedhai slopes in south west Nilgiris bordering Kerala, STF and foresters here joined hands with the forest force on the Kerala side and are carrying out combing operations in the jungle's border along the Kundah-Gedhai slopes now.

“Since there are quite a few tribal settlements on both sides of the border, the STF and forest teams are visiting every hamlet to take stock of the situation and gather information about the suspected movements of Maoist and other new entrants in the jungle hamlets,” sources added.
