Security forces conduct route march in Bengaluru

The central security forces, which arrived in the city recently, are already carrying out route marches, especially in areas considered sensitive.

BENGALURU: Don’t be surprised to see security personnel marching on the streets, as these route marches are being carried out across the state to ensure law and order in the run up to state assembly elections.

The central security forces, which arrived in the city recently, are already carrying out route marches, especially in areas considered sensitive. The primary aim of these marches is to ensure that the forces get familiarized with various areas of the city and to warn anti-social elements.

A senior police officer said these marches will help the forces to learn about the areas geographically and help them to act during emergency situations. “We have started with the marches a month ahead so that we can keep a check on law and order and also to warn anti-social elements against indulging in illegal activities,” the officer added. The officer also mentioned that during these marches the Central forces are accompanied by local police officers, who make them understand about the areas and the people.

“Check posts have already been set up across the city to keep a watch on suspicious movements of vehicles or people,” said the officer. Another officer said that central forces have been called in early this time to prevent untoward incidents. He also added, “We are expecting around 35 platoons comprising of Central Rese rve Police Force (CRPF), Seema Shashra Bal (SSB) Indo-Tibet Police Border Police (ITBP) and there will also be Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) Karna taka State Indsutrial Security Force (KSISF) will be present in the coming weeks. We have already deployed 15 platoons in the city.”
