Hyderabad: Roads in many areas in the IT corridor turn ponds during rains and water logging slows traffic on all the roads.

Thanks to the Madhapur traffic police for taking the initiative to reduce water logging points from 26 to 10. But, the GHMC has to resolve the issues in the remaining points.

Even five millimeters of rain in the IT corridor is creating problems on major roads. The police has identified water logging points at the Harsha Toyota showroom near Kondapur, Raghavendra Colony, Maharaja Hotel near Gachibowli junction, Khajaguda Junction, near Old Traffic Police Station, in front of Petrol Bunk at Ayyappa Society, opposite Cyber Gateway near Raheja, Nector Gardens, opposite Shilparamam Night Bazaar main gate and opposite Butta Convention on Hitech City to JNTU road.

Traffic inspector T. Narsing Rao said that the traffic wing has sent a report to GHMC for taking action to reduce water logging points. The police has also identified the cause behind water logging. They told GHMC that the silting in rain water drains and potholes are causing water loggings.

These water logging points are affecting the entire IT corridor. If traffic moves slowly at these points, all major junctions including Cyber Towers, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Kothaguda and Madhapur would get jammed.
