OOTY: “Take time to smell the roses,” is an old adage that conveys the importance of pausing a bit in life to relax one’s frayed nerves. It appears that the two-day Annual Rose Show, 16th edition this year,  that got underway on Saturday at the Government Rose Garden(GRG) here laid the perfect setting for taking time to smell and enjoy the beauty of roses, as the gorgeous bloom and the ‘Rose Art’ for the show, displayed an elegance that fascinated tourists and locals. Ms. J. Innocent Divya, collector of Nilgiris, inaugurated the show.

With 4,000 rose varieties spread over ten acres, the GRG makes up for the largest rose garden in Asia in terms of number of rose varieties in a single garden.  The famed GRG  has not failed to cheer the tourists this summer too as the good rains in recent times helped in good bloom adding colours and charm to environs.

While the droops in certain patches are the lacuna, the ‘Rose Art’ specially organised for the show proved to be a sparkling delight. The rose-replica of 16-ft tall and 12-ft wide India Gate made out of 25,000 roses added grandeur to the show.
