Bengaluru: Despite almost every exit poll surveys giving the Janata Dal  (Secular) third place in Karnataka,  state JD(S) President H D Kumaraswamy exuded confidence that his party will get the magic number to form the next government on its own.

"You just wait for the announcement of results of the assembly elections held today on May 15. Then you will get answers for all your questions on exit poll", he told reporters.

JD(S) spokesperson and MLC Suresh Babu dismissed the exit polls saying "they have been done on the basis of a small sample survey and most of the time, it had failed to predict exact results. It failed in Tamil Nadu and Bihar, and the same thing may happen in Karnataka also."

In fact, the JDS leaders were upset as none of the exit polls predicted that the JD(S) would form the next government without outside help and had been relegated to third place, and that none had indicated it's emergence as a king maker when exit polls were predicting a hung assembly with both Congress and BJP falling short of the numbers to come to power on its own.
