Karnataka Elections 2018: Nota makes a debut this poll
In constituencies where the voters did not find any suitable option, the NOTA button was used.
Bengaluru: The voter’s right to reject all candidates with none of the above (NOTA) witnessed its first entry into Karnataka elections on Saturday. In constituencies where the voters did not find any suitable option, the NOTA button was used. A voter at Chamrajpet assembly constituency, under condition of anonymity, said that “Among the three prominent contestants are MLA Zameer Ahmed, who ditched his parent party JD(S) and joined Congress without any conscience. JD(S) too in order to win has fielded Altaf Khan and BJP is fielding former deputy mayor Lakshmi Narayan and I had to choose NOTA as I did not like any of the candidates, including the independent ones.” It should be noted that in 2014 general elections a whopping 2.57 lakh people have preferred the NOTA by rejecting 434 candidates.
