Telangana issues memo to official who demanded IPL tickets
Somesh Kumar said, based on his version and other evidence, we will take a decision.
Hyderabad: The state government has taken a serious view of a district excise officer writing to the Hyderabad Cricket Association for 50 corporate boxes and 250 privilege passes for the IPL final cricket match for “higher authorities.”
Special chief secretary (commercial taxes and excise) Somesh Kumar told Deccan Chronicle, “The department has issued a memo to the officer seeking his explanation. We see this as a serious matter. Based on his version and other evidence, we will take a decision. He is yet to reply (to the memo).”
Asked about the statement of Mr K. Pradeep Rao, Malkajgiri-Medchal prohibition and excise officer, that the passes were meant for “higher authorities”, Mr Somesh Kumar said. “He is a district level officer, I don’t know who he was referring to, The department will investigate who was he referring to. This behaviour is certainly uncalled for and has put the department in a spot.”
