25 EB sub-stations at Rs 5,068 crore: TN CM

Chennai: The Chief Minister K. Palaniswami announced that the State Government has proposed to set up 25 EB sub-stations at a cost of '5,068 crore in the State. Making the announcement under 110 Rule in the Assembly on Tuesday, he said that there is no doubt that State will remain as power surplus state forever. Considering the future power requirement of the State, the Department of Energy will undertake various measures like setting set up 25 EB Sub-Stations.
Among others the sub-stations will come up in Ganesh Nagar, KK Nagar in Chennai, Avadi and Ennore in Thiruvallur district, Maraimalai Nagar and Pallavaram in Kancheepuram districts. The government also proposed to revive 'Solar Power Policy 2012' to generate 8,884 MW solar power by 2023.
