Kidney patients seek schemes similar to AP
If government can provide minimum support, this will help the patients, stated the members in a representation submitted to the TS government.
Hyderabad: Taking a cue from AP CM Y.S. Jagan Reddy’s initiative to give pensions to kidney patients who are on dialysis, the TKPWA (Telangana Kidney Patients Welfare Association) have also raised the same demand in the state.
President Ch. Mohan of TKPWA said, “There are 10,000 dialysis patients in the state and they are not able to work as they have to go for treatment three days in a week. The cost of medicines also adds to the treatment. When AP has successfully implemented this provision for kidney patients we want TS to also consider it.”
TKPWA states that they have been giving representations since the last two years to government that despite free dialysis the lives of kidney patients are compromised as they have no proper source of income. If government can provide minimum support, this will help the patients, stated the members in a representation submitted to the TS government.
