Parking curbs for shopowners on Avenue Road

BENGALURU: Police have told the shop owners of Avenue Road not to park their vehicles in front of shops and make way for customers to park their vehicles. This issue was brought to the notice of traffic police on Tuesday, when they went to check on footpath encroachment. The customers complained that they have to park their vehicles few kilometres away, while the owners park their vehicles in front of shops and it remains there for the whole day.
A senior police officer said, “We checked and it was found that all the vehicles parked in front of shops belonged to the owners. We also noticed that the goods vehicles were also parked in front of these shops to load or unload materials. Immediately, we asked the owners to make alternate arrangements to park their vehicles for the convenience of customers.”
“Even the goods vehicle cannot be parked for more than 15 minutes, they will have to finish their work within that time and leave. If the owners fail to comply we will take suitable action,” the officer added. Another officer pointed out that the same nature of menace is seen in Commercial Street too. “We will bring it to the notice of other senior officers and see if orders can be issued.”
