63 child workers rescued from Telangana
The children were brought from neighbouring districts and other states.
Hyderabad: State Crime Investigation Department and District Child Protection unit on Tuesday raided a food manufacturing unit and rescued 63 child labourers, including several girls. The children were brought from neighbouring districts and other states. The owner of the unit has been taken into custody.
According to officials, the children including 30 girls were rescued after a raided the Jaya Foods at IDA Mailardevpally. They were reportedly brought from other states like Bihar, Tamil Nadu and from neighbouring Rajahmundry and Mahabubnagar districts, the officials added. According to the officials, the child labourers were made to work for more than 12 hours every day. They were given a break of 15 minutes for lunch. The children were found to have been working under hazardous conditions where there was heavy machin-eries and large boiling pots. The victims were sent to rescue homes in the city.
