Hyderabad: Work on the project to divert Godavari water to Manjeera/ Singur system will commence soon. GVPR Engineers Company has bagged the contract for the project. L&T, Megha Engineering and NCC had filed bids for the work. The government selected GVPR Company as it was the lowest bidder. The state government has estimated the cost of the project at Rs 398 crore; GVPR quoted Rs 347.42 crore, L&T Rs 365.43 crore, NCC Rs 356.16 crore and Megha Rs 366.23 crore.
The work includes manufacturing, laying, testing and commissioning of the 1,800-mm diameter pipeline from Ghanpur to Patancheru along the ORR. The government has directed the Water Board to take up laying of the pipeline and stop drawing water from Manjeera and Singur and to divert the water from Godavari to the Manjeera/Singur system. With this project, 190 villages located with ORR will get drinking water. The project will feed the new reservoirs in the peripheral circles.
