Khammam: Downpours hit coal production
The rainfall registered in Sattupalli on Thursday was 69.6 mm, followed by 85 mm in Vemsoor and 60.6 mm in Kallur.
Khammam: The incessant rains for the last three days are showing their effect in the district. Firstly, coal production in the open cast and underground mines was hit in Sattupalli, Kothagudem and Manuguru areas.
About one lakh tonnes of coal production was hit in the open cast mines in Sattupalli and the miners were unable to unearth another two lakh tonnes of coal in Kothagudem and Manuguru mines.

Secondly, different irrigation projects, rivers and rivulets witnessed impressive inflows and floodwater. Water level in the Godavari at Bhadrachalam touched 31 feet on Thursday.
Taliperu project was the first project to be filled in the district and the officials opened 14 gates and released 9,234 cusecs of water against an inflow of 9,000 cusecs.
Wyra Mandal received good rainfall and the Wyra reservoir touched 14.4 feet against 18.6 feet for full reservoir level. Floodwater flowed through the sluices of Nallacheruvu in Somavaram village under Wyra mandal.
Kinnerasani reservoir is nearing full reservoir level (FRL), with the present water level at 400 feet against 407.7 feet FRL.
The reservoir received 600 cusecs due to the Kinnerasani rivulet being in spate.
The Pedavagu irrigation project in Aswaraopet mandal witnessed heavy inflows. The water level reached 4.76 metres against 6.1 metres of FRL.
A total of 215 tanks in 36 Mandals in Khammam and Bhadrachalam are filled to the brim.
