THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government non-gazetted officers under the banner of NGO union observed statewide protest against the anti-employee’and anti-people policies of the Central Government.

In Capital, the members of NGO union took out march from Palayam Martyrs Square to Secretariat. Similar marches were held in all district headquarters and zones across the state.

One of the major demands raised by the Union is regarding the anomalies in the 15th Finance Commssion. The leaders of employees have pointed out that the Centre was ignoring the huge liability on geriatric care for which huge amount was being spent.

The leaders say the commission was penalising the state for excelling in social sectors. The Centre was using 15th finance commission politically to limit state's opportunity to generate their revenue. This would seriously affect all sections of society particularly the benefits of government staff.

The union wants the Centre to reframe the terms of reference of the  15th finance commission.
