Rain fills up Godavari dams
During the past 24 hours, the monsoon remained vigorous over many parts of Telangana state.
Hyderabad: The state, which has recorded 30 per cent surplus rainfall, can expect more in the next three days. The IMD forecast says the state will receive heavy to very rainfall till July 15. Adilabad, topped the chart with 82 per cent surplus rainfall followed by Siddipet (72), Mancherial (70) Kumaram Bheem (63), Peddapalle (54) Khammam (53), Mahbubnagar (44), Jagtial (42), Warangal (40) and Jayashankar Bhupalpally (35 per cent surplus).
Projects such as Sriramsagar, Lower Manair, Singur and Yellampally were filling up with flows from upstream Maharashtra, where heavy rains have been reported. On the Krishna basin, the Srisailam dam had water at 800.2 feet against full reservoir level of 885 feet, and the water at Nagarjunasagar stood at 511 feet against the full level of 590.
However, there was some hope with the Narayanpur dam filling up fast: Water in the last dam on the Krishna river in Karnataka stood at 1,603.84 feet against the full reservoir level of 1,615. Overflow from the dam will reach Jurala in Telangana state, and then Srisailam. During the past 24 hours, the monsoon remained vigorous over many parts of Telangana state.
