SHRC to study MCH complaint
MCH, has refuted the allegation by saying that the sterilization equipments at MCH were capable of working in high temperature.
ALAPPUZHA: The State Human Right Commission (KSHRC) has asked the Director, Heath department to study about the complaint that the functioning of central sterilisation department at Government TD Medical College Hospital here was getting affected due to the bodies of people succumbed to epidemics often being moved through the department.
Passing the order, P. Mohandas, member, KSHRC, ordered the director that to constitute a team of experts and submit a detailed report in this regard within two months.
The Commission issued the order on the basis of complaint registered by K.N. Satyapalan, technician, Central sterilization department at MCH.
As per the complaint, besides the dead bodies, the equipments subjected to sterilization are being taken outside and then it brought to operation theatre through lift facility. This kind of movement has posed threat to security of patients', the complaint says.
Meanwhile, a counter affidavit submitted by Superintendent, MCH, has refuted the allegation by saying that the sterilization equipments at MCH were capable of working in high temperature. So there was no question of any kind of infection. It has been certified by expert committee report', the superintendent in the report said. Meanwhile, Commission said that superintendent did not submit the copy of the expert committee that certified the quality of sterilisation.
