Tirupati: Union roads minister Nitin Gadkari has hailed the TTD-run Sri Padmavati Children's Hospital for its exceptional standards and performance of free heart surgeries, including heart transplantations, on underprivileged children.

Speaking to the media after visiting the hospital here on Thursday, the Central minister noted that essential medical procedures like heart and lung transplants were predominantly available to the poor free of cost in cities like Chennai and Hyderabad. “There, however, is a scarcity of doctors specialising in heart transplants,” he said.

Gadkari praised the TTD and its dedicated team of doctors at the SPCH for successfully conducting over 1600 free heart operations, surgeries, and transplants. The minister described their efforts as an extraordinary service to Sri Venkateswara Swamy and commended their selflessness in serving the needy. While touring the hospital, Gadkari took a round of the ICU, OP wings, operating theatres, and general wards.

Earlier in the day, the roads minister accompanied by his family members sought the blessings of Sri Venkateswara Swamy at the renowned Tirumala temple. TTD Trust Board chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy extended them a warm welcome.

Gadkari said he believed that with Lord Venkateswara's blessings, India would emerge as a more powerful and prosperous nation.

At the Ranganayakula Mandapam, the minister received Vedaseervachanam from the Vedic Pandits as a mark of respect. The TTD chairman presented him with Theertha Prasadam and a photo of Lord Venkateswara. The minister and his family also offered prayers to Goddess Padmavati Devi Ammavaru at the Tiruchanoor temple.
