Gangster Mohammad Nayeem had eye on new districts of Telangana
The gangster collected Rs 30 lakh from a beedi-manufacturing unit in Koratla town July last.
Karimnagar: Notorious gangster Mohammad Nayeem appeared to have shifted his focus on some districts of Telangana, besides Hyderabad. He is learned to have operated in Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts with the help of some police officials and former Maoists.
“Our inquiries suggest that Nayeem was involved in settlement of disputes pertaining to lands while indulging in extortion. He had settled a row over a piece of land in Padmanagar. He had camped in district headquarters for this purpose,” said a member of special investigation team formed for probing his illegal activities.
The gangster collected Rs 30 lakh from a beedi-manufacturing unit in Koratla town July last. He also demanded Rs 1 crore from a document writer and husband of Nizam-abad’s Ditchpally ZPTC member.
The writer lodged a complaint with police. A police official, seeking anonymity, said that Nayeem also demanded Rs 75 lakh from a contractor of beedi leaves who approached a minister.
Nayeem’s unlawful activities to notice of chief minister. The minister was angry at Nayeem for issueing a warning to him about the safety to the contractor.
