Hyderabad: Godrej Interio to pay fine for missing parts

The consumer had ordered furniture worth Rs 3.48 lakh from the famous brand in March 2015.

Hyderabad: The district consumer forum Hyderabad III awarded a 39-year-old resident of Gachibowli Rs 50,000 compensation as Godrej Interio delayed in replacing the missing parts of his furniture consignment.

The consumer had ordered furniture worth Rs 3.48 lakh from the famous brand in March 2015. He, however, asked the company to fix them in August due to the pending renovation works. When the company fixed the furniture in August, two parts were found missing. Though the consumer approached the company multiple times, it failed to respond.

Though the company accepted the fact that two parts were missing, it replaced them in March 2016. The company said that the delay was caused from the consumer’s side. 

The company also said that it was wrong on the part of the consumer to approach the court in February 2016 without serving it a legal notice . 

The court observed that the consumer approached the court as the company did not take interest in responding on time. The forum ordered a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the consumer finding deficiency on the part of Godrej Interio.
