Hyderabad: Parents of Mohd Abdul Qadeer, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), claimed that their son was innocent and in no way connected with either the ISIS or any terror activity.

His father Mohd Abdul Qudoos said that his son followed the ‘Ahl-i-Hadees’ school of thought and sold Islamic books at various mosques and religious gatherings. “He visits various mosques in the state and sells these books. Once, about a year ago, he had gone on a tour of a few states in the country,” the man said.

Qudoos further said that their relatives stay in Pakistan and they talk over the phone with them. “My son might know Basith because they could have met at some mosque as they follow the Ahl-i-Hadees group. My son is not connected with the ISIS and is innocent,” he said. The NIA had conducted a search at the residence of Qadeer last Monday and reportedly seized incriminating material.

The agency also seized a laptop and a mobile phone belonging to Qadeer. The family lives in a rented house in the Shaheennagar area of Pahadishareef.

However, the parents of Abdul Basith preferred to be indoors when the media arrived at their house.
