The GHMC proposals on road widening, construction of roads, flyovers and others have been pending at various levels with the state government for months.

Hyderabad: Commuters will enjoy a high quality white topped road from IIIT Junction to Wipro Circle with the opening of ISB Road for traffic. This comes as a huge relief to those who have been dealing with traffic jams in the area over the past few months.

The traffic police have confirmed that the road will be open for all vehicles. Temporary barricades have been put up until the completion of drain works. Work on the road began nearly five months ago. So far, only a 2.5 km stretch of a single lane has been completed. Work on the side drains, cycling tracks, walking path and green way is yet to begin.

Officials of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation say that the drains will temporarily be covered with metal sheets bearing reflectors to avoid any accidents.  “Work on the drains and tiling work for the footpath will continue. By November, work on 2.5 km of the drains will be completed,” says Ram Mohan Raju, deputy general manager of the project.

Officials add that completion of road work from Wipro to Varun Motors will take another ten days. Work on the Microsoft-end of the road will only commence in December, after the GES Summit. “The other stretch will be finished within two months. The electricity lines have already been shifted, so there will be no major obstacles,” says Mr Ram Mohan.
