Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the TS government to provide treatment in MGM Hospital at Warangal to two victims of torture, allegedly by Nerella police.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J. Uma Devi was dealing with a PIL by Gaddam Lakshman, a civil rights activist, seeking either a CBI or SIT probe into the alleged torture of eight persons belonging to Dalit and BC communities, and also the taken up case on the incident based on a letter of retired judge Justice B. Chandra Kumar.

V. Raghunath, counsel for the petitioner, said that when the victims went to Nims, they were refused treatment by the doctors. A private hospital in Hyderabad too refused to treat them, forcing them to be admitted to a private nursing home in Karimnagar.

The doctors also certified that the reproductive organs of victims were damaged due to the torture, he added.

When the bench asked counsel how many of the victims needed the treatment, he said that two of the victims need further treatment.

While directing treatment of the two victims in the MGM Hospital, the bench asked TS AG D. Prakash Reddy to file a counter affidavit and adjourned the hearing.
