Krishnagiri: Two girls drown as car falls into well

Unfortunately, the speeding car stopped after it fell into the well that brims with water upto 60 feet.

Krishnagiri: In a tragic mishap, 2 girls drowned after the car in which the victims travelled fell into a well. Their relatives who jumped out of the moving vehicle escaped death with minor injuries.

Police said, 65 years old Thangavelu, a farmer of Nakanoor village of Dharmapuri, his relatives Rajenderan, 33, Rama, 30, Preethi, 27,her daughters Varshini, 7 and Dakshitha, 3, on Wednesday were heading towards Sellampatti village in Krishnagiri for the wedding event to be held on Thursday morning.

Rajenderan who was in the driver’s seat lost control of the vehicle after the car jumped off the road at 4 pm when the vehicle was here at Nagarkuttai in Poochampalli taluk of Krishnagiri.

Unfortunately, the speeding car stopped after it fell into the well that brims with water upto  60 feet.

Thangavelu, Rajenderan, Rama, Preethi escaped death with injuries by jumping out of the moving vehicle.

However, Preethi’s two daughters Varshini and Dakshitha who were trapped inside the car drowned in the well along with the vehicle.

A rescue operation was conducted for over five hours, leading to the recovery of the drowned vehicle in which Varshini and her younger sister Dakshitha were found dead.

Their bodies were sent for the postmortem to be held here in the government hospital. Barur police registered a case and conducts probe for this incident.
