Hyderabad: The death toll is likely to increase in the fire mishap which occurred at Ruby Pride Luxury hotel at Kummarguda close to Regional Passport Office, Secunderabad, Monday night.

Four persons had died on the spot due to suffocation and burn injuries, while others including a woman died on the way to Gandhi Hospital.

Seven persons who suffered critical burn injuries are undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital and other nearby private hospitals. Police suspect that there were more than 25 inmates at the hotel when the fire mishap occurred.

A few of them who jumped out from the second floor suffered burns and injuries.

An electric vehicle near the basement of the building caught fire and it spread to other electric vehicles parked in the spot.

Subsequently, an electric circuit caught fire and the hazardous smoke spread till the fourth floor of the building.

Most of the victims are said to be old persons who were staying in rooms in the first floor. Some of the survivors who managed to reach the second floor suffered burns and they were rescued and rushed to the hospital.

The entire hotel furniture was gutted in the fire. The extent of loss is yet to be estimated. The Market police have registered a case.

Meanwhile, owners of Gemo Pai EV Motors and Ruby Pride Luxury hotel are still at large.
