Hyderabad: As many as 4,38,067 pregnant women have registered for the KCR Kit scheme for deliveries at government institutions from June 2 to October 12, according to the commissioner of health and family welfare.  The state is going to witness 47,000 deliveries this month, which is the highest since the scheme was rolled out.

Women from rural and semi-urban areas lead the pack and Hyderabad district occupies the lowest position with 14,000 ladies.

A senior health officer said, “Before the introduction of KCR Kit scheme, Public Health Centres (PHCs) in rural areas used to witness fewer deliveries. Now they have gone up by three deliveries per month. PHCs are coming forward to provide care. But in Hyderabad, PHC staff are not cooperative.”
