Thiruvananthapuram: Dream turns real for CET alumnus
But for the constant persuasion by Ajay, we could have even dropped the project owing to the technical delays involved, said Mr.Reibling.
Thiruvananthapuram: With the Taurus Downtown project at Technopark Phase III campus here turning to a reality, it is a dream come true for a Thiruvananthapuram native who has been envisioning infrastructure of global standards in his home town.
Taurus India managing director Ajay Prasad, who has been relentlessly pursuing the project, is an alumni of College of Engineering Thiruvananth-apuram (CET) and the St. Thomas school in the city.
“I am very happy that a project of this size is happening in my home city offering office space and social infrastructure of global standards," said Ajay, a native of Kumar-apuram.
Boston-based Taurus’s chairman Lorenz Reibling, Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor, MP, and Technopark chief executive officer Hrishikesh Nair highlighted Ajay's efforts in making the project a reality.
“But for the constant persuasion by Ajay, we could have even dropped the project owing to the technical delays involved,” said Mr.Reibling.
Mr. Tharoor recollected that Ajay used to highlight the infrastructure needs of the city through his blogspot Trivandrum Rising since 2009, while he (Tharoor) was contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Thiruvananthap-uram.
Ajay completed his schooling at St. Thomas School in 1999 and did engineering degree in electronics at CET. After passing out from CET in 2009, he went to IIM Culcutta. Afterwards he worked with Accenture Strategy in Mumbai and Emmar India. In 2010 he did masters in real estate development in Boston and joined Taurus in 2012.
Ajay mooted the Down-town project in 2013 after Taurus did an India safari to identify the investment options. "During an interaction with with heads of leading IT firms in Technopark, many had pointed out lack of global infrastructure, including entertainment and retail space. This prompted us to moot the Downtown project," he said.
Ajay, who is the son of a doctor, said that from his college days itself, he had an interest for infrastructure development and hence initiated the blog to express his desire.
