Telangana: Rumours of cash block road
A police team had to be dispatched to the spot to disperse the crowd.
Hyderabad: Rumours about piles of cash abandoned on the roadside created a traffic block on the Warangal highway with large numbers of people gathering near the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) in Medipally.
A police team had to be dispatched to the spot to disperse the crowd. The incident started unfolding in the afternoon with some locals gathering near the road to search for the cash.
“A rumour spread that someone had abandoned piles of cash on the roadside and drove away. The people started gathering at the spot. Vehicles passing by on the road stopped and drivers also started searching the area. It led to a traffic block,” a source from Medipally said.
Soon the police was informed by some locals as traffic movement in the area was affected. “We went there and asked the people to immediately disperse from the area to clear the road for traffic movement. No money was found there,” said Medipally police inspector K. Jaganath Reddy.
