Hyderabad: Cab service providers have added a new feature which lets the rider stop the vehicle thrice for three minutes. Gone are the days of requesting the driver to change the destination midway. Multi-destination feature enables the rider to add multiple stops along the route. This new feature takes just a few steps on the app when requesting a ride.  In India, the feature was rolled out in August 2017 and is available to all riders in Hyderabad. Uber spokesperson said, “It is easier than ever to pick up and drop your friends or family along the way. To save driver’s time, it is recommended that each stop should be limited to three minutes.”

The Uber spokesperson added, “A rider cannot make multiple bookings at this point.’’Sandeep Jangli, a rider who uses multi-destinations, said, “That is one of the most useful features Uber has implemented. It is good if you are in a group of three people going to three different destinations. I used it recently and paid via credit card. Three of us had to drop one person at Nallagandla and then go to Kondapur. With that option we easily avoided two cabs.”

Ola does not have the option of multiple bookings so far. It has started Ola Shuttle where a user can buy a shuttle pass for preferred timings for a daily route to avoid reserving a seat each time. A user can buy a weekly or monthly pass and can choose one-way or two-way passes. Ola Shuttle is like a 12-seater mini bus where a rider can reserve a seat.

Rides made easier

  • Riders can also add and remove stops during the trip.
  • As courtesy for driver’s time, it is recommended that each stop be limited to 3 minutes or less.

How it works:

  •  Tap ‘Where to?’
  •  Tap the ‘+’ next to the ‘Where to’ box
  •  Add the addresses of the additional stops en route
