Job aspirants put career above marriage

Vijayawada: Job first, marriage next is the motto of teachers’ job aspirants in the state. Many of them whose marriages have been fixed have refused to avail of the muhuratams ahead of the AP government’s Teacher Recruitment Test.
The remaining good days in November are on 17, 18, 19 and 25, the 4th, 10th and the 11th were also considered auspicious. However, with the District Selection Committee tests lying ahead, most young people preferred to put off their marriage. The exams will be held from December 5 to 26. The AP government has issued the DSC-2018 notification to recruit 7,729 teachers. Most of the aspirants had been waiting for four years for the notification. The serious ones have been spending 12 to 16 hours in coaching classes and reading books.
Mr P. Seetaramaiah, a local resident, that his son had completed his B.Ed and was working in a private school. His son wrote the DSC-2104 exam but did not qualify. He has been teaching in a private school and waiting for the next DSC notification.
He said the had family decided to perform his son’s marriage by the end of this year to which he had agreed. The DSC notification was issued last month, and his son took long leave from school and began intensive preparation for the government exam. Mr Seetaramaiah said he had tried to persuade his son to marry, but he decided to first get a job before settling down in life.
Marriage bureau consultant J. Lakshmi said that they had fixed matches between couples who had completed their teacher training and private school teachers.
Some marriages were scheduled in November and December but as the bride and groom were attempting the DSC exam, the marriages had been postponed to January.
She said it was a good sign that the present generation was giving first preference to the career.
