Thrissur: Used bullet found in temple offering box
Guruvayur Temple police have registered a case over the matter after the chief security officer of the temple informed the police on it.
Thrissur: A used bullet used in small weapons was recovered from the bhandaram (box to collect offerings) near the sanctum sanctorum of the Lord Sree Krishnan Temple in Guruvayur on Tuesday.
Guruvayur Temple police have registered a case over the matter after the chief security officer of the temple informed the police on it.
The bullet was found as the officials opened the box as a part of the routine counting processon Tuesday afternoon.
Guruvayru Temple Police Station CI C Premanandakrishnan told DC that as it was a used bullet the matter need not be seen as a major security threat.
“Such bullet parts are often left behind in shooting ranges and people with gun licence too may carry such bullet parts. Had it been a live bullet, the matter would have been serious,” CI noted.
He further said that the used bullet is of 1.5 cm long and it was the portion which comes out of the barrel of a gun after the explosion of the two-two cap (bullet part) with gun power explodes inside the weapon.
The temple has a high security with scanners and metal detectors and how such a used bullet reached the ‘bhandaram’ inside the temple would be inquired into, CI added.
