Shabbir Ali seeks NRI Bill
He accused the state government of not doing anything to support the native Telangana migrant workers stuck in Gulf countries.
Hyderabad: The Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council, Mr Shabbir Ali, on Monday demanded the state government to table the much-awaited NRI Bill in the winter session. He accused the state government of not doing anything to support the native Telangana migrant workers stuck in Gulf countries.
Addressing a news conference on Monday, Mr Shabbir Ali said thousands of workers belonging to various districts of the state were either stuck or suffering in different gulf countries and the state government was not serious in resolving their problems.
Criticising minister for NRI affairs K.T. Rama Rao, the Leader of Opposition said the minister has been visiting the Gulf countries only to interact with the sheikhs and investors but not to talk with the migrants working about their problems. “On one hand, the government has not allocated any funds to address the issues of NRIs and on the other hand, it releases funds for Jagruthi headed by MP Kavitha in the name of NRIs,” he alleged.
