Hyderabad: A call made to the on-duty staff of Oman Air at Hyderabad and Lucknow airports put the security agencies on toes on Monday.

The caller, a woman from Bihar, told the staff that one Shoaib, who was likely to board a flight to Dubai on December 24, was planning to carry explosives with him for sabotage on-board. She claimed that he was likely to take a flight either from Hyderabad or Lucknow. The woman also claimed that Shoaib had cheated her under the pretext of marrying her and collected Rs 60,000 cash from her. Cyberabad police begun an inquiry in coordination with their counterparts in Lucknow.

Officials suspect that the caller may in fact herself be planning revenge on Shoaib over a love affair. DCP Shamshabad P.V. Padmaja said the caller was traced and identified as Sania Bahar, hailing from Bihar and working as a teacher. “Sania had sent Shoaib’s photographs and a copy of his passport to the airline staff and asked them to prevent him from flying abroad. The motive of her call is being verified.”

Officials said Sonia could be in love with the man and may have played out a dra-ma to stop him from going abroad. Officials said that security was beefed up after the call. However, normal air traffic was not affected.
