Will lay stone for Kadapa steel plant soon, says N Chandrababu Naidu

Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu participated in Gnana Bheri programme in Ongole on Wednesday.

Nellore: Taking a dig at the centre for ignoring their dema-nd for a steel plant at Kadapa, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said he would lay the foundation stone for the steel factory at Kadapa this month.

He was addressing a large number of students during the Gnana Bheri programme held at Ongole on Wednesday. He said top names in engineering education from various parts of the country were coming to Amaravati to establish their institutions.

Pointing to the foundation stone he laid for Tanguturu Prakasam University at Ongole on Wednesday, he promised to start the works shortly.

Referring to 81 lakh students in the state, the Chief Minister said his objective was to transform the state as a knowledge hub and education hub through viaduct. He said they would tie up with Finland to realise the ambitious project.

Referring to Rs 15 lakhs being spent for each student keen on pursuing higher education in other countries, he invited the students to make use of the opportunity. He claimed credit for introducing digital classrooms and virtual classrooms. The CM inaugurated a Mini Stadium built at an estimated cost of Rs 3.39 crore at Ongole and also laid the foundation stone to build 14,000 houses at an estimated cost of Rs 1044 crore.

Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Sidda Raghava Rao, Ongole legislator Damacharla Janardhan, former DGP Malakondaiah, MLC’s Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Karanam Balar-am and several party legislators were present during the programme.
