Diesel price crosses Rs 65 per liter for first time in Kerala

The difference between petrol and diesel is less than Rs 10 per litre as petrol costs Rs 73.61 per litre in Ernakulam district.

Responding to the Centre's appeal to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel, Maharashtra government on Tuesday cut prices by Rs 2 for petrol and Re 1 for diesel respectively.

Kochi: Diesel prices crossed Rs 65 per litre to reach Rs 65.57 at retail outlets in Ernakualm in the past two days. According to All Kerala Petroleum Traders Association secretary M.M. Basheer this is the first time diesel prices reached such high levels. 

The price for diesel on January 1 was in the range Rs 63.77 per litre has been climbing steadily up for the past two weeks. The difference between petrol and diesel is less than Rs 10 per litre as petrol costs Rs 73.61 per litre in Ernakulam district.
