Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik injured in hit-and-run case

 Mangaluru: Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik sustained injuries in a hit-and-run incident on Sunday.

The incident occurred when Rajesh Naik was crossing the road on foot after concluding an event in front of Sri Gopal Krishna Temple at Tenka Yedapadavu around 1.30 pm on Sunday.

A speeding car traveling from Moodbidri towards Mangaluru struck Rajesh Naik, and without stopping, swiftly left the scene. Subsequently, with the assistance of the 112 Hoysala team, the car was intercepted at Gurupura Junction and brought to the police station for further investigation.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal said that Rajesh Naik is currently undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in both knees.

Acting on the complaint filed by eyewitness Pawan Kumar, an FIR has been registered at Bajpe Police Station under IPC sections 279, 337, and 134(a)(b) against the driver of the car. The police are actively investigating the case to determine the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run incident.
