Fresh PIL Against Allotment of Kokapet Land to BRS Party

HYDERABAD: A PIL has been filed before the Telangana High Court challenging the decision of the then BRS government in allotting 11 acres of land located in survey Numbers 239 and 240 of Kokapet village in Gandipet mandal to BRS for establishing an institute of excellence and HRD at Rs 3,41,25,000 when the market value of the land prevailing in Kokapet runs into crores of rupees.

One A. Venkatramana Reddy filed the PIL stating that the land allotment has to be set aside as the purpose of allotment was not for the benefit of the public.

It should be noted that a similar PIL was filed in the High Court by Forum for Good Governance, represented by its secretary M. Padmanabha Reddy challenging the allotment.

On 18-7-2023, the division bench, comprising acting Chief Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili and Justice N. Rajeshwar Rao issued notices to the state government and the general secretary, BRS party, directing them to respond to the notices by August 16, 2023. The PIL is pending adjudication.
