Secunderabad Cantonment: Irregular water supply irks residents
Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment residents again complained to the board regarding irregular supply of water and issues not being resolved completely.
“In Ward 5, drinking water is supplied once in four days or once in a week with low pressure, short duration and uneven timings. Residents are facing difficulties because of the same,” said a resident, Telukunta Satish Gupta, in his letter to the board.
He said many residents could not link their Aadhaar card with the linking water connection due to a failure of the SCB server. “The SCB staff have noted down the details and promised early rectification. However, SCB started issuing bills including payment of past dues and arrears,” he said.
Another resident, Naimesh Mehta said the SCB’S website accepted complaints and only after the fee was paid online were staff being sent to rectify the problem. He added that the problem was only half resolved, and said the building residents were demanding for a refund.
“We had paid Rs 1,500 for septic tank cleaning. The staff came, did half the work and left saying it required more effort, manpower and machinery. They never turned up again,” he said.
Asked about this, SCB CEO Madhukar Naik said, “We requested the HMWS&SB for bulk supply for which it has demanded Rs 15 crore for connection charges. We have time and again requested the government to consider us (SCB) as their own. We will be able to rectify issues once the Rs 15 crore is paid for connection charges. The process has begun.” He said he would will rigorously look into the other complaints filed by the residents.
