Barur Dalit girl forced to commit suicide by stalker

The girl allegedly committed suicide as she was unable to handle the harassment of the youth who were stalking her.

The police found a suicide note from Maunesh stating that Chandrappa had caused mental torture after his sister went missing and based on this the police have arrested Chandrappa on Wednesday.

Krishnagiri: Barur police in Krishnagiri district registered a case against two minor boys for the death of a 17-year-old Dalit girl. The girl allegedly committed suicide as she was unable to handle the harassment of the youth who were stalking her.

On Tuesday, relatives of S. Tamilarasi found her hanging from the ceiling in her house. She was taken to the government hospital in Karimangalam where she was declared brought dead. Her body was sent to the Kavripattinam government hospital for post-mortem. It was done late on Tuesday evening as her relatives refused to accept the body till the accused were arrested.

They also resorted to a road roko, disrupting traffic on the Kaveripattinam - Krishnagiri road. Sankar of Devirahalli village and father of Tamilarasi accused the two dominant caste boys for forcing his daughter to take the extreme step. According to him, his daughter was upset because she could not enter the examination hall for writing her Plus-2 examination, as the boys had torn off her hall ticket. Police have beefed up security to avoid any inter-caste tension.
