Hyderabad: In yet another incident of kids falling victims to illicit relations of their parents, a six- year-old boy was severely beaten up by his mother's lover with an electric cable at Sanathnagar on Monday.
The suspect Ch Peddi Raju alias Chinna beat the boy after the slate pencil he was using broke. Neighbours heard the boy's cries and called the police who rescued the boy and detained Chinna. According to the police, Lakshmi lost her husband a few years ago after which she moved to Hyderabad and lived at Motinagar with her two children. She got into a relationship with Chinna about a year ago. Chinna, married and a father of two, is said to be a distant relative of her. As he was away from his family, he started living in Lakshmi house.
Chinna, who works as a driver, did not want to spend his money on Lakshmi's kids and often beat them over petty issues. On Monday while the boy was practicing writing on a slate, the slate pencil broke. As Lakshmi was away at work, Chinna took the opportunity to beat the child black and blue with an electric cable.
Neighbours, who heard the boy crying for help, found Chinna beating him and alerted the police. Sanathnagar police registered a case under Sections 324 of IPC and the Juvenile Justice Act. SI K. Krishna said that Lakshmi knew that Chinna was rude to her kids but she couldn't stop him. She was also booked for not objecting to the beating of kids.
