KPCC, Rahul Gandhi to discuss LS seats
Mr Gandhi will inaugurate the Fisherman Parliament at Thriprayar on Thursday at 10 am. After that he will fly to Kannur by helicopter.
Thiruvananthapuram: Congress president Rahul Gandhi arrived in Thiruvananthapuram on a two-day visit to the state to officially launch the party campaign. Mr Gandhi is staying overnight at Ramanilayam Government Guest House at Thrissur where the Congress leadership will be finalising the candidate list.
“There were no talks on candidates at Thiruvana-nthapuram airport as it was a brief stop-over. Mullapally, Chennithala and Chandy flew with Mr Gandhi and Mukul Wasnik to Thrissur where the leaders in all likelihood will talk about candidates at the guest house,” a Congress leader said.
Mr Gandhi will inaugurate the Fisherman Parlia-ment at Thriprayar on Thursday at 10 am. After that he will fly to Kannur by helicopter. At Kannur airport, he will meet the family members of the slain Youth Congress leader S.P. Shuhaib. By 1 pm, the Congress president will fly to Periya in Kasaragod and visit the family members of Kripesh and Sarath Lal at 3.25 pm who were killed by the CPM workers. By 5 pm. he will reach Kozhikode beach and inaugurate the Jana Maha Rally that would be officially launching the party campaign.
“Earlier, it was reported that candidates from all the six northern districts would be announced before voters. But now only K. Sudhakaran’s candidature is sure. There are half a dozen aspirants for Kasaragod, Kannur, Alat-hur, Palakkad and Thr-issur,” said a senior Congress MLA.
