Light rains likely in Bengaluru in next 2 days: Met Dept
There would be partly cloudy sky with rain and thundershower likely in some areas, officials said.
Bengaluru: Finally some good news on the weather front for city residents, currently braving an unprecedented heat wave. The weathermen have forecast light showers in a couple of days in some areas of the city.
However, there was no respite on Wednesday with the city recording a maximum temperature of 37 degree Celsius, while the minimum was 25 degrees. According to the Met department officials the temperatures would continue to remain high. “There would be partly cloudy sky with rain and thundershower likely in some areas,” the officials said.
The average temperatures recorded in the past few days were three degrees above the normal and residents are wondering whether the city would hit 40 degrees Celsius. However the city weather officials feel it was highly unlikely.
“The city's temperature being 40 degree Celsius is highly unlikely, however, the temperature is rising suddenly from the second fortnight of March and the increase is steep compared to the previous years for Bengaluru,” said Dr
Geeta Agnihotri, Director, Met department.
Strict terms for garbage contractors in new tenders
The BBMP has mandated in its garbage tender that the contractors ensure that the garbage is segregated at source and dry waste is collected on alternate days, said BBMP Commissioner G. Kumar Naik on Wednesday.
He said that the fresh tenders floated in 151 wards make it mandatory for contractors to segregate wet and dry waste and carry the sanitary waste in a separate bag to waste processing centres.
The BBMP is making public the tender conditions, including the number of pourakarmikas to be engaged and the number of primary and secondary vehicles to be deployed in a ward.
The details of the tender norms have been uploaded on BBMP’s website. Residents can check the details and alert BBMP authorities if there is any lacuna, he said.
