Hyderabad: Thousands of students taking the Eamcet in Hyderabad on Sunday will have to get going to the exam centres really early. Officials have said students will not be allowed inside even if they are a minute late.

The engineering test will be held from 10 am to 1 pm. The afternoon test (from 2.30 to 5.30 pm) will be for admission to undergraduate courses in agriculture, veterinary, horticulture, pharma as well as ayurveda and homeopathy streams in various colleges in ten districts.

The JNTU-H could be locating some of the centres far away from the city, like the University of Hyderabad and IIIT-Hyderabad at Gachibowli, BITS Pilani-Hyderabad at Shamirpet, the Telangana State Police Academy and the JNTU-H Kukatpally campus to host the test.

Private colleges refused to provide their premises to protest against vigilance checks. The government decided to hold the test in state and Central government buildings. Each of these centres is expected to accommodate nearly 2,000 candidates.

“Since some centres are on the outskirts, special buses have to start as early as 6.30 am to take the students in time.

There will be a bus every 10 minutes. Close to 1,000 buses will be pressed into service on May 15,” an official said.
